Bill Nighy’s next Silksounding book is going to be …

It has taken a bid (…) longer than expected (which has to do with a very busy Bill and clearing rights for the book and so on) but it has been decided. After a clear win in the poll, Bill will dust off his vampire suit and find his fangs and read Bram Stoker’s Dracula for Silksoundbooks.

More details about when exactly this new audio book will be available on Silksoundbooks will be published here as soon as they are available, but there is hope that it will be before Christmas.

Update: Because of Bill’s fully packed schedule, he won’t be able to read it before Christmas. His reading will be moved into the next year!

A huge thank you to everybody who casted their votes, Bill was very pleased with the voting!

The winner of a free copy of the new Dracula audio book is Vera from Berlin.

I could feel the soft, shivering touch of the lips on the super sensitive skin of my throat, and the hard dents of two sharp teeth, just touching and pausing there. I closed my eyes in a languorous ecstasy and waited - waited with beating heart.

What is it with that man and vampires? Didn’t he play one in Underworld as well? :)

He did and will be again!

This Dracula decision however is to blame on his fans, they voted for it! I am sure he is quite happy to read it though, here is what Bill has said about vampires:

I must say, I do have a particular fancy for vampires. I like a vampire. And I do like the whole shtick of it, the whole mythology of it. I love vampire lore. I love in UNDERWORLD that the werewolves who were at war with the vampires came up with bullets that were clear glass that contained harnessed daylight. Don’t you think that’s a cool idea? You’re actually shooting daylight into vampires. The bullets explode on impact and the daylight spreads through them. I think it’s a beautiful piece of vampyric lore.

And that’s the other thing: they look great. They are the coolest.

That is really cool, I must admit! I haven’t seen Underworld yet but I will get around to it one day. I’m hooked now :) I’m a sucker for films with zombies and/or werewolves myself (hello, David Thewlis in Harry Potter 3! - even if the werewolf looked more like a skinny rat).

I was really looking forward to read/listen to this book, how sad. Welll, I’m happy he decided to read it, anyway. Thanks for lletting us vote.

    Bill, you are the best!

Maybe I should clear some things up.

MANY people suggested Dracula (does that have something to do with Bill’s history as Viktor I wonder :).

And the competition was not about guessing the right title, we threw all names of people who have suggested book titles in a big hat, and randomly picked a person.

You can still listen to this book, because it will be released on Silksoundbooks after Bill has read it! (Hopefully in December - the perfect Christmas gift!)

Have your say
