BBC Radio 4 will broadcast a brand new Charles Paris Mystery with Bill Nighy as Charles Paris.

Here is the info from BBC about Murder Unprompted:

As ever, seedy, middle-aged actor Charles is his own worst enemy: a lush who can resist anything except temptation – especially in the form of women and alcohol. His intentions may be good but, somehow, the results always go wrong.

In Murder Unprompted, Charles finally has a shot at the big time. Cast as second billing in a new play going down a storm on the fringe, he looks likely to hit the West End. Even cynical, world-weary Charles Paris can’t resist feeling that his luck is about to change.

However, things soon take a turn for the worse when the show’s investors insist upon big names for the lead roles and Charles and his co-star, Alex, are passed over for television names Michael Banks and George Birkett.

Then Michael Banks is shot dead on stage on opening night. When Alex goes missing, all the signs seem to suggest that he is responsible – but Charles is convinced there is more to the story. From aggrieved playwrights to pushy showbiz mothers, there are a number of other suspects in the frame.

In between trying to stop his ex-wife, Frances, from selling the family home and failing to avoid the seductive skills of Michael Banks’s widow, Charles sets out to prove Alex’s innocence.

Awesome. Bill on the radio is such an unexpected pleasure. Do you know if BBC4 works like BBC7, in the sense that you can listen again after the actual broadcast time?

Yes Radio4 often repeats radioplays like this, so you are probably able to hear it later on that day, for a couple of days.

So Sicken and So Die is one of my favorite radio productions. Absolutely love it.
