“The play has arrived at a time of momentous political and social change over here with regards to Iraq. It was fascinating for me to observe the (mainly) American audience having to confront what their President had got them into.

As Bill noted, Iraq is “the biggest subject currently on the table.”

“I think people are very grateful to have it discussed in this entertaining and grown-up way,” he continues.

“It is even-handed – everybody gets a good tune and everyone gets a shout, so it’s not somebody telling you how to think. It’s much more sophisticated than that. Each side of it is expressed incredibly eloquently – and you get to pick.”

But it’s the humour that draws you into the drama. “I wouldn’t be here unless there were jokes,” Bill agrees. ”
