Telegraph : Bill Nighy about holidays and such

The Telegraph has a short interview with Bill Nighy about the joy and horror of holidays.

And while there are predictable answers (what does he take with him ? His ipod with Stones and Dylan of course) there are some interesting ones too. Did you know Bill’s spiritual home is the Coco Chanel suite of the Ritz, Paris? And that he would love to travel Europe by train, only to visit the big European football clubs and watch one of their matches. (Well we didn’t know that, but we could have figured it out).

An amusing interview, go read it on the Telegraphs website.

Love this article about Bill’s travels. I remember another reporter asking him why he did NOT like to take holidays and his response “Because I’m a s*dding b*stard,” which cracked me up; it’s the response of a husband whose wife *adores* travel and he doesn’t!

Holidays are SO over-rated! I too often wonder just what I am supposed to be doing and why am I not having a grand time like others seem to be. Give me a good book to stick my nose in, my Ipod and I am set. Although a holiday by train with Bill sounds like a lot of fun, for many reasons ;)

I also read somewhere that he doesn’t like holidays because he has to wear silly pants. He really is something.

And because he has to wear sunblock and then his linen trousers stick to his legs! Hee, hee. And, yet, he seems to travel all the time for work — the gift/curse of a successful actor.

I liked the part about how a perfect holiday needs rain, because I agree entirely, and where he mentions how he takes a new journal and a good pen, and never writes a word, because I always do the same thing.

    Quite sad, really.

“Spend more money than is strictly necessary. Economize at home.”

    GREAT advice. Hah-hah.

Have your say
