Meerkat Manor on DVD finally !
For all those people who have been asking about Meerkat Manor being released on DVD – it is going to happen. Series 1 is going to be released in the beginning of September.
You can preorder it at play.com, but it is likely that it will be available on other online DVD sites.
The version released here is the version with Bill Nighy narrating, which is a reason in itself to buy the DVD. Release date 4th of September 2006.
(Thanks to Matt for pointing it out !)

We're going to have a party, a jolly good party. Splendid!
Bill will read Dracula!

Hi Jonathan – the one listed on amazon.co.uk states that it should be for all regions.

Play.com howevers mentions Region 2. So I don\\\’t really know yet. I could imagine it to be region free though, which would mean that you could play it in a US DVD player too.
(I accidently deleted your comment – sorry about that Jonathan! )
Play.com only offers the DVD in region 2 format, it will not play on DVDs in the US. Where do we get a US version?
i can not order Meerkat Manor until september 02, 2006. I am Ordering It for my Own Birthday on september 8th.
Is the Meerkat Manor DVD’s Series 1 and Series 2 or are they separate. I want to purchase both series but am confused. Also, will the DVD’s play on all DVD players? I noted something about Region 2 only (whatever that means).
Thank you for any info you can give me.

I don’t think they’ve shown Series 2 on TV yet, so it has to be Series 1. I’m sure, also, that the DVDs with Bill’s voice will only work on European or Region-Free players (for those of you, like moi, who are living in the U.S., you can buy one fairly cheaply from amazon.com or another site).
Quite sure you won’t be able to buy the Bill Nighy version in the U.S. because it’s obvious they’ll soon be selling one here with Sean Astin’s voice — he’s the narrator for the American version.
If you do buy the Region Free player to get “Meerkat,” you should really indulge yourself further and buy “State of Play.” Really a great miniseries about a newspaper, a politician, and a murder — and Bill is just brilliant as the editor-in-chief.
Just noticed they’ve moved the release date to Oct. 9th. These people are driving me nuts.
Just watched 2 episodes of Meercat Manor on Monday, Sept. 11,2006
and I am hooked.
I’m sure it would be Season 1 that’s releasing, since we’re barely into Season 2. I don’t know if you all have already found a DVD to buy but just in case you didn’t, I found one at http://www.greenumbrellashop.co.uk/acatalog/Home_Page_Meerkat_Manor__DVD__2383.html. It says something about PAL Region 0 format, but according to this link you can click on that says “Will this DVD work where you live?”, “…some of our customers in USA and Canada have successfully played these DVD’s on their PC (not TV) equipment.” Now I don’t know how much that would help those who don’t have the right equipment, but at least here you know what you’re up against (or the 800 Customer service number that goes with your DVD should). Take the time to read that stuff. The link is to the right of “Order this Title.” I have an Algebra classmate I can’t wait to give a printout of this stuff.
